“I bought my bangle in 2018 and I haven’t taken it off since. Not one single day. I love how it’s gone from the hand of the person who made it to mine. It’s never lost it’s lustre but continues to shine no matter what I put it through… I can’t imagine ever taking it off …” Natasha (South Africa)

Since 1998, our bangles have been available in a number of airports, game reserves, and national parks throughout southeast Africa. We have trading posts in some of the wildest places.
From the woven grass designs of herdboys to the braided hairstyles of Old Africa, our copper bangles are inspired by hundreds of years of custom and culture.
Every bangle that we make is hand beaten on an old length of Southern African railway track (our anvils are fashioned from scrapped lengths of railway line repurposed for function … an old African tradition).
Twisted and hammered, no two handmade trade bangles are identical. Each has its own unique marks of time and touch … the beauty of artisanal imperfection.
What We Do
Using copper sourced from mines in South Africa, we draw, twist, braid, hammer, and shape trade bangles in much the same way as metalsmiths did in the olden days.
We have a number of different designs, assorted into our Sofala, Mbizi, Mbada, Mvumba, and Tsinde trade collections.
Mined and designed in Africa, our handmade copper trade bangles are proudly worn on arms throughout the world.
We are currently shipping to Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland (Eswatini), Tanzania, the United Kingdom (UK), United States (US), Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
If you are outside of these countries and would like to order, please contact us and we will make a plan to get some copper onto your arm.
We ship to some wild places! Have you been on an African safari? Did you have a great trip and did you meet some incredible people? Do you want to send a bangle to your guide or to a game ranger as a token of your appreciation? We can make that happen.
Within South Africa, shipping options at checkout include Aramex Courier door to door (cost calculated by destination), PostNet to PostNet (at a flat rate of R110), PAXI counter to counter (R100), and PUDO locker to locker (R100).
